VANDAL, in collaboration with the City of Sydney, We Are Warriors, and R/GA, shone a light on First Nations culture through the powerful theme ‘Forward With Heart’ at the 2024 Sydney New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Setting the tone for the night, the Calling Country Ceremony was brought to life with breathtaking animated projections on the Sydney Harbour Bridge pylons. These visuals – designed by Bundjalung & South Sea Islander artist Kimberly Engwicht and Anangu graphic designer Oumoula McKenzie – illustrated Barangaroo’s matriarchal role and as a provider. The artwork reflected regeneration, while the ocean symbolised strength.
