Helping you to help others!
VANDAL was extremely proud to be a part of Google’s ‘helping you help others’ campaign.
In this TVC we see Danzal Baker AKA Baker Boy – a Yolngu man and Australia’s first Yolngu Matha rapper – who is passionate in his mentoring of youths in the Arnhem Land community and helping them to overcome shame jobs (perceived barriers that prevent indigenous people from reaching their full potential).
Baker Boy helps rising talent Mikayla Munungurr fulfil her potential with Google by using their search and map features to find a recording studio to create her music in and then perform as a billed act on stage with him. Google is able to help us help others.
Following on from the TVC, VANDAL was excited to work on the continuation of this campaign in a 3 minute film ‘Rise To Your Dreams’. This documentary is an accompaniment to the Google Rise Helpfulness TVC that explores shame job and its effects on the Indigenous community.
Rise To Your Dreams follows Danzal Baker (Baker Boy) as well as other prominent members of the Indigenous community who have overcome their own shame jobs to reach their dreams [solicitor & Indigenous activist Teela Reid, Sydney University Architecture lecturer Dr Michal Mossman & Chairman of the Gujaga Foundation Ray Ingrey].
